On Sunday, 9 August 2015, in the morning at 8:19, in Mažeikių district municipality, Kulšėnų village, on Židikų street near No. 62, an Opel Omega ran off the road. Two people were injured — a 22-year-old passenger of the Opel (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 16-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.03‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. A 22-year-old passenger of the Opel was drunk (1.40‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
