On Monday, 10 August 2015, in the evening at 21:42, in Klaipėda, on Liepojos street, at the junction with Girininkijos street, an Audi A6 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 19-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 18-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Audi (26 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
