On Wednesday, 2 September 2015, in the evening at around 20:00, in Panevėžys, on Suvalkų street, at the junction with Nemuno street, a traffic accident occurred. The accident involved a BMW 530. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.87‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
