On Sunday, 4 October 2015, in the evening at 18:53, in Plungės district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 91.30), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Hyundai Galloper and a BMW 520I. Three people died — a 3-year-old passenger of the BMW (was not wearing a seatbelt), a 31-year-old passenger of the BMW and the 36-year-old driver of the BMW. Four people were injured — the 44-year-old driver of the Hyundai (hospitalized), a 15-year-old passenger of the Hyundai (hospitalized), a 41-year-old passenger of the Hyundai (hospitalized) and a 10-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized). The 44-year-old driver of the Hyundai was drunk (1.68‰). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
