On Thursday, 1 October 2015, in the evening at 19:15, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr. near No. 61, at a yard or parking-lot exit, a BMW 530 D hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 18-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties and failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
