On Sunday, 11 October 2015, in the morning at 8:30, in Šilalės district municipality, Apidėmių village, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 117.04), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (2.97‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
