On Friday, 30 October 2015, in the afternoon at 13:58, in Ignalinos district municipality, on the Vilnius-Švenčionys-Zarasai national road (kilometre 100), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Scania R 124 GB, a Ford Galaxy and a GS. Three people were injured — the 38-year-old driver of the Ford (hospitalized), a 15-year-old passenger of the Ford (hospitalized) and a 7-year-old passenger of the Ford (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Scania (30 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
