On Sunday, 15 November 2015, at night at 2:12, in Kupiškio district municipality, on the Daugpilis–Rokiškis–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 81), a Mercedes-Benz E200 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.90‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
