On Thursday, 17 December 2015, in the evening at around 17:00, in Kėdainių district municipality, on J. Basanavičiaus street, at the junction with Rasos street, an Opel hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 44-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 71-year-old driver of the Opel (48 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
