On Thursday, 17 December 2015, in the evening at around 21:00, in Vilnius, on Mechanikų street near No. 39, a Mercedes-Benz E 220 CDI hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (less than a year of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
