On Sunday, 24 January 2016, at night at 1:32, in Marijampolės municipality, on Poilsio street near No. 26, an Audi A4 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 30-year-old pedestrian. One person was injured — a 21-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Audi (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.14‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene.
