On Tuesday, 26 January 2016, in the evening at 21:58, in Tauragės district municipality, on T. Ivanausko street near No. 56, a Volvo hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people were injured — a 40-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 55-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by a 40-year-old pedestrian, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest) and was walking on the carriageway where prohibited. She was drunk (2.40‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. A 55-year-old pedestrian was drunk (0.90‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
