On Thursday, 4 February 2016, in the evening at 18:12, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys national road (kilometre 66.71), a Volvo hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 65-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by a 65-year-old pedestrian, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest) and was walking on the carriageway where prohibited. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
