On Sunday, 7 February 2016, in the evening at 19:10, in Panevėžys, on Aukštaičių street, at the junction with Staniūnų street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Yamaha XJ 600 and a Volkswagen Golf Variant. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Yamaha, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.16‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
