On Monday, 8 February 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kaunas, on Kovo 11-osios street, at the junction with Alaušo street, a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 56-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
