On Monday, 15 February 2016, in the morning at 7:22, in Kaunas, on Pakraščio street, a Mazda 6 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 72-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Mazda (8 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
