On Monday, 22 February 2016, in the afternoon at 16:40, in Šilalės district municipality, Užpelkio village, on the Balsiai–Kaltinėnai–Kražiai regional road (kilometre 19.15), a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
