On Wednesday, 6 April 2016, at night at 1:20, in Kaunas, on Varnių street, at the junction with Linkuvos street, a Ford Mondeo hit an obstacle. One person was injured — a 15-year-old passenger of the Ford (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Ford, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.71‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
