On Sunday, 24 April 2016, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Kaunas, on Karaliaus Mindaugo pr., at the junction with V. Kuzmos street, a collision while turning right occurred. The collision involved a Renault Megane Coupe and a Ford Focus. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Renault (19 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
