On Monday, 16 May 2016, in the evening at 21:58, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Vėžionys–Dainava–Pabarė–Butrimonys regional road (kilometre 10.45), a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 60-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.30‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
