On Saturday, 4 June 2016, in the evening at 19:30, in Šakių district municipality, on Šaulių street near No. 28, at the junction with S. Banaičio street, a collision while turning right occurred. The collision involved an Opel Corsa-C and a Honda Civic. Two people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the Honda (hospitalized) and a 15-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Opel (15 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
