On Tuesday, 12 July 2016, in the morning at 9:57, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 133.96), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Opel (19 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
