On Friday, 15 July 2016, in the afternoon at 14:45, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Gargždai–Kretinga national road (kilometre 2), a collision occurred. The collision involved a Renault Laguna and an Opel Zafira. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Renault (less than a year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.53‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
