On Friday, 29 July 2016, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Šilutės district municipality, Galnės village, on the Šilalė–Šilutė national road (kilometre 34), an Opel Astra-G-CC hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Opel (1 year of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings, committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. The Opel had recorded faults (padangų). At the time of the accident it was raining, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
