On Monday, 1 August 2016, at night at 0:09, in Kauno district municipality, Dievogalos village, on Dievogalos street near No. 64, a moped hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people were injured — the 17-year-old driver of a moped (treated as an outpatient) and a 15-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 17-year-old driver of a moped, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.93‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
