On Sunday, 14 August 2016, at night at 0:06, in Šilutės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street near No. 22, at a yard or parking-lot exit, a collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 525 and a Mitsubishi Space Star. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
