On Saturday, 27 August 2016, in the afternoon at 12:19, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Mairiškiai–Žibartoniai–Gudžiūnai regional road (kilometre 1), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a MTZ Belarus-892, a Scania R 124, a MMZ 771B and a Schmitz SKI 24 registered in Poland. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 67-year-old driver of the MTZ (35 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
