On Wednesday, 31 August 2016, in the afternoon at 14:33, in Tauragės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno g., at the junction with Respublikos g. sankryža street, a Hyundai Lantra hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 24-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Hyundai (9 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
