On Friday, 2 September 2016, in the morning at around 9:00, in Klaipėda, on Vyturio street near No. 2, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Meriva and a Skoda Octavia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 69-year-old driver of the Opel (32 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
