On Sunday, 11 September 2016, at night at around 2:00, in Kupiškio district municipality, Skverbų village, on the Daugpilis–Rokiškis–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 77.35), a Citroen C5 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Citroen (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
