On Wednesday, 21 September 2016, at night at 23:44, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Draugystės street near No. 3, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Vectra and an Opel Tigra. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Opel Vectra, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.51‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 30 km/h.
