On Saturday, 24 September 2016, in the afternoon at 16:11, in Šiaulių district municipality, on Vytauto street, at the junction with Alėjos street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Opel Vectra, a Toyota Avensis and a Hyundai. Two people were injured — the 41-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and a 33-year-old passenger of the Toyota (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He had no driving licence. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
