On Saturday, 24 September 2016, in the evening at 21:33, in Vilnius, on Maironio street, at the junction with Aukštaičių street, a Lexus IS 220 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Lexus (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.83‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
