On Sunday, 25 September 2016, at night at 23:55, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 99.85), a Volvo S60 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Volvo (13 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.42‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
