On Monday, 26 September 2016, at night at 23:50, in Vilnius, on Minsko pl. near No. 14, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 44-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by a 44-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip. He was drunk (1.87‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
