On Saturday, 24 September 2016, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Kartena–Kalniškiai–Anužiai regional road (kilometre 6.30), a Peugeot 206 ran off the road. One person was injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
