On Tuesday, 25 October 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 8.15), a Volvo FH12 registered in Latvia hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Volvo (30 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
