On Wednesday, 26 October 2016, in the evening at 19:50, in Molėtų district municipality, on the Molėtai–Kaltanėnai–Ignalina national road (kilometre 11.55), a Renault Espace rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Renault (19 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.44‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
