On Tuesday, 8 November 2016, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Tauragės district municipality, on Gedimino street, at the junction with Prezidento street, an Audi A8 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 11-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Audi (12 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties and failed to give way when crossing an intersection. She fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
