On Wednesday, 16 November 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Klaipėda, on Kauno street, at the junction with Taikos pr., a Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober.
