On Saturday, 19 November 2016, in the evening at 20:40, in Šilalės district municipality, Upynos town, on Nepriklausomybės street near No. 55, a Volkswagen Touareg hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 43-year-old pedestrian, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). He was drunk (3.22‰ blood alcohol).
