On Sunday, 27 November 2016, in the evening at around 21:00, in Plungės district municipality, on the Liepgiriai–Šateikiai–Gintališkė regional road (kilometre 5.60), an Audi A6 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Audi (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.05‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
