On Thursday, 8 December 2016, in the evening at 17:53, in Vilniaus district municipality, Buivydiškių village, on Sūduvių street, a Volvo S60 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 31-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Volvo, who violated overtaking rules, failed to fulfil pedestrian duties and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was icy.
