On Wednesday, 21 December 2016, in the evening at 18:22, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 4.80), a Volkswagen Caravelle registered in Norway hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (17 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed.
