On Monday, 26 December 2016, in the afternoon at 15:06, in Kretingos district municipality, Laukžemės village, on Saulėtekio street, a Peugeot 406 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.44‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
