On Wednesday, 28 December 2016, in the evening at around 21:00, in Kaunas, on J. Mateikos street near No. 22, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530 D, a Chrysler Voyager, an Audi 80 and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient) and a 34-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (6 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.74‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
