On Thursday, 29 December 2016, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šiauliai, on Architektų street, at the junction with Gegužių street, a Renault Megane Scenic hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Renault (24 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
