On Thursday, 29 December 2016, in the evening at 21:31, in Širvintų district municipality, on Vilniaus street, at the junction with P. Cvirkos street, a Honda Civic ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Honda, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.23‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
