On Thursday, 29 December 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kaunas, on Tunelio street near No. 20, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a BMW 316 and an Audi A6 Avant. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (0.57‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
