On Saturday, 21 January 2017, at night at around 3:00, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Lyda main road (kilometre 32), a Volvo S40 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Volvo (11 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
